Troubleshoot your Magic Series card machine

Follow these steps to troubleshoot your Magic 4 Portable machine or Magix 4 fixed machine

 

Basic Troubleshooting

Card Machine error

  1. NOT SWITCHING ON
    First check power supply and if plug points are working, if not report card machine
  2. SWITCHING ON AND OFF
    First check if cables, power supply and plugs are tightly inserted, if this persists, report card machine
  3. SCREEN FLASHING
    First check if rebooting solves the problem, if not, report card machine
  4. LIGHTNING DAMAGE
    Report card machine
  5. KEYBOARD ISSUE
    Report Card Machine
  6. MAG READER/CHIP READER IS UNABLE TO READ ANY CARDS
    Report Card Machine
  7. NOT CONNECTING TO WIFI
    Report Card Machine

 

Connectivity error
(when using a Connectnet Modem)

  1. MODEM IS NOT DISPLAYING “P SERVER CONNECT”
    Reboot the modem by holding both the up & down arrows in for 10 seconds
    If after rebooting, modem is still stuck on “SEARCH P.P. GPRS / CONNECTNET / SEARCH P.P.P” report the modem
  2. MODEM IS OFF
    Check the power supply is inserted & plug points are working
  3. MODEM IS OFF
    Check the power supply is inserted & plug points are working
  4. MACHINE KEEPS DISPLAYING CONNECTING TO RADIO-PAD”/ “DISCONNECTING RADIO-PAD”
    Ensure the comms cable is plugged into the modem as well as underneath the machine in the “RS” port

 

 

Connectivity error

Download failed receipt will print out if the download is unsuccessful or cannot connect to GPRS.
When a transaction is processed and cannot authorise due to connectivity issues a Rejected receipt will print out Communication Failure. In both cases please contact our call centre for assistance to assist with basic trouble shooting.

 

Connectivity error
(when using an Xlink Modem)

  1. GPRS FLASHING RED
    Hold the black “SEL” button for 3 seconds for modem to reboot or unplug the power cable. Wait 5 seconds & plug it in again.
    After 40 seconds it should turn green
  2. MODEM OFF
    Check power supply - ensure it is inserted & plug points are working
  3. RED SIGNAL INDICATOR
    Ensure antenna is connected properly & is pointing upwards
  4. MACHINE DISPLAYS - “CONNECTING TO RADIO-PAD” / “DISCONNECTING RADIO-PAD”
    Ensure that the comms cable is securely connected to the machine RS Port underneath the machine
  5. SIGNAL INDICATOR IS ORANGE/RED (LOW SIGNAL)
    Hold the “SEL” button down for 10 seconds to switch the network over

    NOTE: Some issues can be solved by rebooting both the modem & the power supply.

 

Slow Connectivity - ensure connectivity is on GPRS

(When your portable card machine is slow it is typically on GSM, this happens when the network signal drops, which happens periodically.)

CHECK THAT IT IS ON GPRS:

  1. Press the menu key
  2. Select Applications by pressing the enter key
  3. Use the navigation key to select the Manager Menu option & press the enter key
  4. Enter the Manager PIN & press the enter key
  5. Use the navigation key to select Select Terminal & press the enter key
  6. Select the Settle Centre option & press the enter key
  7. Select the GPRS option & press the enter key
