Error codes on your card machine

If you receive any of the following Error Codes on your Sureswipe card machine,  follow the guidelines below to resolve the error

Printed on Receipt
Description of problem and action to take
01 Refer to card issuer Declined. Call Authorisation Centre to approve.

Reason Code 01
The card issuing bank requested that the merchant phones for approval code for the transaction.

Please contact the card issuing bank
04 Pick-up card

Declined. Call
Authorisation Centre. Hold this card.

Reason Code 04

This is usually a message that the card has been suspended or reported stolen.

Retain the card and call the Authorisation Centre for further instructions

05 Do not honour

Declined by issuing bank

Use a different
payment method.

Reason Code 05

The issuer has declined the Authorisation Request

The client must use a different method of payment

31 Bank not supported

Declined by issuing bank

Use a different
payment method.

Reason Code 31

The issuer has declined the Authorisation Request

The client must use a different method of payment

51 Not sufficient
funds

Declined by issuing bank

Use a different
payment method.

Reason Code 51

The issuer has declined the Authorisation Request

The client must use a different method of payment

52/53 Invalid account

Declined. This is not a cheque/savings account
Retry or use a different
payment method

Reason Code 52/53

The issuer has declined the Authorisation Request, as the wrong account type was selected

Try again with the correct account type, or the cardholder must pay with a different payment method

55 Incorrect PIN

PIN is incorrect Retry or use a different payment method

Reason Code 55

The Cardholder has entered the incorrect PIN

Try again and enter the correct PIN or cardholder must use a different method of payment

57 Transaction
not permitted to
cardholder

Transaction not permitted to cardholder

Reason Code 57

The Cardholder has to select a different account type.
61 Exceeds
withdrawal
Withdrawal limit
is exceeded Call
Auth Centre to

The customer has exceeded the daily limit on the card

Please telephonically contact the authorisation centre and process the card using the “Phoned For Approval” option if this is an option on the card machine
