Karolien van Berkel, co-owner and manager at Grounded at Echo (@grounded_at_echo), launched the community cafe in collaboration with Echo Youth Development (@echoyouthmove) – a registered non-profit organisation working with youth in need – in December 2013.
The following year, the business expanded with the addition of a coworking space, Grounded Work (@grounded_work), alongside the cafe. “We’re passionate about building community and providing great, down-to-earth food and coffee,” says Karolien.
A catalyst for conversation
“At Grounded at Echo we serve great coffee and try to have fun with flavours while bringing a high-quality, wholesome product to our community and keeping things relaxed and low-key,” she says. “We believe that great food and coffee is a catalyst for conversation and community.”
The coworking space next door, Grounded Work, offers flexible office space to rent and an awesome community of entrepreneurs collaborating and supporting each other.
It was a need to service this community, that drew Karolien to Sureswipe when a sales representative presented the card payment solutions to her business.
“At the workspace and cafe, we host regular workshops, talks and meetups that have become really popular and of course we also serve our full menu at the workspace as well,” she says. This means convenience is key for attendees and patrons wanting to pay for their orders using card instead of cash.
“Sureswipe’s price point is what sold us on partnering with them; this, in addition to the convenience of having card payment machines for our non-cash paying customers.”
If you want to make card payments easier for your customers or offer them the option of using gift cards, contact Sureswipe today on 0860 200 111 or click here and we’ll call you back.
